First, learn all about this map just as it is by mousing over each boxed-in area on it and observing how it identifies each parcel by name.
Then, pick a property on the map and click on it. You will be automatically taken to a bigger version of the map (in another tab) as well as shown that particular property's informational balloon. When you're done reading that balloon's information, click on its top right red X to get rid of it so that you can try a couple more land parcel lookups in the same way.
You should learn how to use the map's upper left up-and-down and right-and-left move-the-map arrows as well as its pan-in-and-out guage.
You can position the map any way that you want to by left-click-and-hold gripping it anywhere on the map and then moving it around with your mouse.
Take a few moments doing all of these things to familiarize yourself with all of this wonderful map's navigational tools.
This map is run on WikiMapia's servers and accessible anywhere in the world for any place in the world so it's been designed to allow people everywhere to do all of this maneuvering. Remember, it gives folks worldwide access to this information, so for the good of Negril tourism, it needs to be made accurate and complete.
Boxing in a Particular Parcel on the Map
On this wiki map, boxing-in a parcel is called 'Add Place' and it is accessed by clicking its red "EDIT" tab on the top left of the map. Be sure that you are zoomed in to the map's lowest setting so that you can most precisely box in a parcel before you click on 'Add Place'. Then click on it and a red plus sign will appear.
This is a very easy to use to polygon creating system for identifying and locating exactly where the parcel is on the map. So, start by placing its red plus sign on one edge of the land parcel which you wish to map. Then click it to hold it there and let go and slowly move your mouse to another edge point which will drag and drop another magically appearing red plus sign with a connecting line right to it. Do the same click and stretch of another red plus sign and connecting line to the next point on the land parcel and so on until it is completely outlined.
Then click on the red save button under your box to save it. Now a blank informational balloon will appear which you can fill in with as much data as you know about the place. You can also categorize it using their predetermined category selections. When you're done doing all of this, click the red save button at the bottom of the balloon and after a few moments it will transform into a finished product.
Now look it over and if you want to change it in any way go to the balloon's drop-down menu in its top left corner and choose the kind of changes or improvements you might wish to make.
You should register with WikiMapia though, because you may wish to make some changes that unregistered user's are prevented from making. Registration is easy but it doesn't finish processing you for about 3 days so you'll have to wait to make those kinds of changes. This delay is to prevent impulsive vandalism.
Once you are registered you can correct improperly done property polygons as well as do many other things to improve the map.
